After the Dateline program on the terrible 2006 crash that killed five Taylor University students and the subsequent case of mistaken identities, I kept thinking about the why God would allow such a thing to happen to his own. It seems bizarre and random, not the kind of thing that would happen to His chosen. [...]

Anonymity vs. Accountability
Tim Challies had a lot of good things to say today on anonymity vs. accountability.
Among other things, traditional morality has also been related to accountability.
In the past, anonymity was both rare and difficult. People tended to live in close-knit communities where every face was familiar and every action was visible to the community. [...]
Quiet Time May Not Be So Quiet
Justin Taylor has a great post from guest blogger, David Powlison on Should We Really Call It A “Quiet” Time? over at Between Two Worlds. Go check it out. It’s a good biblical viewpoint of personal time spent with the Lord.
Hockey & the PCA, eh?
This week marks the start of, as far as sports go, the best time of the year. Note that I said “the start of” not “the end of.” Obviously I’m not talking about that cute, little, over-rated basketball game being played tonight in San Antonio.
I am, as you surely know, talking about the [...]
Best PR in Years!
Okay, I’ve just come across something that might give the PCA its “best PR in years!” What do Presbyterians have over and against Baptists?
The word Presbyterians is an anagram of Britney Spears!
Oh, and so is, “best PR in years.”
Have Geek fun at: http://wordsmith.org/anagram/index.html
Praying for Those who Preach
A great reminder to be praying for those who preach.
http://justinchilders.blogspot.com/2008/03/pray-for-those-who-preach.html
It is always a struggle for me to remember that pastors, elders, teachers, etc. need prayer and ministering to. In fact it is likely they need it more as they in many cases are under attack as they carry out God’s work.
God of the Old, God of the New
From Leviticus 19:
“You shall not hate your brother in your heart…”
“…but you shall love your neighbor as yourself…”
“…and you shall love [a stranger] as yourself…”
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13:8).
Praise be to God for his Word, both Old and New Testament!
Pelagianism: The World Religion
I found the below video clip of no surprise, but interesting. Don’t know if I fully like the melodrama of the clip, but I think the theological point is very valid. Of course this is not a true church any more than the Roman Catholic church is. However, by all accounts this is really taking off for Oprah. Oprah [...]
Reading, Well?
Dr. Niel Nielson, President of Covenant College had a great post yesterday on Reading and Writing Well.
Nielson’s post had me cheering out loud (quietly to myself).
I’m in a technical field and I’ve often found that writing poorly and spelling poorly (and practicing poor personal hygiene) is often looked upon as a badge of honor. [...]
